This past Memorial Day I had the pleasure of accompanying Michael, of southbayfoodies.com at the 25th Annual JazzReggae Festival. The JazzReggae Festival is a two day event that focuses on Jazz on the Sunday before Memorial Day and Raggae on Memorial Day.
In the past, this student ran production has had chart topping artists as headlining acts. Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Leela James, Raphael Saadiq, Mavado, Damian Marley, Q Tip, and Nas have all graced the stage on the UCLA Intramural Field. It was no surprise that this year’s headliners were Lupe Fiasco and Steel Pulse.
But for me it’s not all about the music. My favorite part of the festival was browsing the booths of the vendors selling clothing, jewelry, art, and a diverse variety of food. Since tickets for this event will only set you back about $30 dollars, you can use your extra dinero to do some shopping while you’re there.
Attending the JazzReggae festival is truly a unique experience; it’s laid back fun for the whole family.
